Compression Test Procedure with CT2 tester

I have a question in test protocol for strength.  Do you expect results to be different if you compress the blocks quickly (as I"ve seen you teach) than if you compress them in a slow rhythm?  Why do you teach that the compression should be exacted as quickly as possible?

The CVBT's CT2 is an inexpensive tester that can be used instead of the universal tester used in many civil engineering tests. A universal tester uses an electric-powered hydraulic pump which will push with increasing force continuously. Because our hydraulic piston is hand powered we have dead time when we are on the return stroke. We make our measurement better when we pump the handle up and down without stopping. A compression test done slowly with the CT2 might not be comparable with a test done with a universal tester.
